Happy 2009!
This year has just flown by. I can't believe we've been in Washington for 10 months. It just doesn't seem that long at all. With the end of 2008 we look forward to lots of new mixes and other tasty gluten-free treats in 2009. And a few welcome changes!

New Mixes and a few revisions
We have a few new mixes that we'll be unveiling in January. Pizza Crust, Cornbread, and a delicious Sandwich/Toast Bread (corn free!) to start with. I'm especially proud of the bread - add some molasses and you have a hearty "brown" bread. Delicious!

In addition, we'll be adding a corn-free All-Purpose Fry Mix. Those of you who are corn-sensitive or allergic will have a delicious alternative to our current corn-based fry mix. This will be in addition to the current mix - that one's not going anywhere! I've also done some revamping to do away with the corn/aluminum based baking powder in most of the mixes and will soon be revamping those to a corn-free status. This will make all mixes corn-free, with the exception of those that actually contain cornmeal.

A New Facility!
For the past few years, we've rented commercial kitchen space. This has been great as it's allowed us to actually sell our products, but schlepping products and ingredients back and forth from the kitchen to our packing/storage facility quickly grew tiring and old. Thankfully no more as we are moving in January to our own facility! This will not only give us more space, it will save quite a bit of time and allow us to focus on growth and wholesale opportunities.

This is the first of several moves that we're looking forward to. This new facility is not approved for retail traffic so the goal for 2010 will be to move into an actual bakery and offer gluten-free baked goods and other delicious GF treats as well as our mixes. More on this later in the year...

No more Spoonfudge??
The new kitchen is not set up for making Spoonfudge so we'll have just one more order window (info below) and then we'll be ceasing production of our Spoonfudge for a few months, or until everything is ready. Get it while you can so you don't suffer from Spoonfudge withdrawals!

The last order window before the temporary Spoonfudge shutdown will be January 2-7, 2009. All Spoonfudge ordered during this window will ship by January 24, 2009. More information and current flavors will be available soon on our website. If you have a flavor that you simply MUST have, please let me know and if there are enough requests, I'll put it up!

We hope to have monthly order windows again by mid-late Spring.

Wholesale Information
We will have wholesale pricing and terms available for interested buyers in February. 2009 is the year that we want to get Glutenada into local and out of state stores. You can help! If you know of a store that you think should carry our products, please contact us or ask the store to contact us. Our goal is national coverage.

Shipping Charges
Unfortunately, the USPS is raising rates yet again and as much as we hate to do it, we're going to have to raise our shipping costs. There will now be 2 different shipping charges, based on order size. US orders will be $5.95/$8.95 and Canadian orders will be $15.95/$22.95. More information will be available on our website by Friday this week.

And finally, last but certainly not least - we'll soon be offering cookies and our deliciously additive cupcakes via the website. Once we complete our move you'll be able to order all sorts of yummy gluten-free baked goods like cookies, brownie "buckets" and of course, our buttercream frosted cupcakes. And coming to that lineup - carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese buttercream frosting. Absolutely delish!

Seasonal Ordering and Shipping Schedule
Wow, it's winding down to Christmas already. Where has time gone?! Just over 2 months until the Holiday Season is upon us so it's time for our seasonal schedule to begin.

Effective this Friday, October 17, Spoonfudge will be available and will remain available for ordering until just before Christmas.

Here's how it will work. We will be shipping on specific dates, noted below. This will be bi-weekly at first and then will move to weekly as Christmas draws closer. The last date for ordering will be December 19 and those orders will ship the next day.

Spoonfudge Shipping Schedule:
Orders placed from October 18 - November 1 will ship the week of November 3.
Orders placed from November 2 - November 15 will ship the week of November 17.

On November 16 weekly shipments will come into play...
After this date, orders placed by 8pm (pst) on a Saturday will ship out the following week. Shipments will encompass all orders (Spoonfudge only or a combination of Spoonfudge and Gluten-Free Mixes) for the week prior. Orders for just Gluten-Free Mixes will be shipped within 2 business days of your order.

As noted above, the very last day to order Spoonfudge for the year is December 19. We will be shipping via USPS Priority Mail and as the USPS updates their website to reflect the shipping deadlines, this date IS subject to change. Please note that this date is for national shipping only. If you are ordering for someone in Canada or in the military, please order at an earlier date to ensure that your package arrives in time.

Flavor Availability: We will be switching up flavors throughout the season. Flavors will come and go and a few new, limited time flavors will make brief appearances. We will send out a newsletter before each flavor change so you can plan accordingly. And yes, the Mystery Flavor will be back! This was our second best selling flavor during the last Order Window and the staff had a lot of fun coming up with the flavor to do. So look for this "flavor" to be around for awhile!

October 12 - Gluten-Free Oats!!!


soooooooo excited! I discovered a company that actually has gluten-free oats. They are owned and operated by celiacs so they know the importance of being free from gluten.

They only work with farmers that grow oats alone and their processing takes place in an oat-only facility so there is zero chance of cross contamination of any kind.

I cannot adequately express just how excited I am about this discovery. I can now offer gluten-free Oatmeal cookies! Joy of joys! And I personally cat eat oatmeal for breakfast again. Be still my beating heart. hehe

I ordered a good amount and it should be arriving this week (I hope). I will immediately cease work on all other pending mixes and work only on an oatmeal cookie mix. Look for this to be released by month's end. Whee!

October 11 - Perfecting Pizza


Last night and tonight I worked on a pizza crust mix. It's coming along quite well! And after 8 months without pizza they've been beyond delicious. The crust is nice and chewy and has a good texture. Definitely pizza worthy!

I think with just a bit more tweaking, this mix will be ready to go. The biggest decision will be package size. 1 or 2 crusts per bag? Hmmm...

Well, I'm off to enjoy my last slice of canadian bacon and pineapple pizza. Yum!

It's Candy Time at the Spoonfudge HQ!
Halloween is just around the corner and as I thought about what "theme" to run for September, it came to me. Candy. Lots and lots of candy! We're going to be shoving the Spoonfudge full of all kinds of candy! You'll have to wait until next weekend to see what candy will be there, but here are a few hints. Candy corn. M&Ms. Candy corn. Butterfinger. Candy Corn. Oh, and did I mention CANDY CORN?

We will be opening for business on Friday, September 19 at noon PT and will remain open through Monday, September 22 before closing at 7pm PT.

Spoonfudge ordered during this time will be shipped during the week of October 7.

New Jar Sizes:
It's time for the changeover. Effective this Order Window, all Spoonfudge will now come in 5 ounce jars. You will get 2 jars instead of the 1 you've received in the past. 2 jars will get you 1 punch on your punchcard and when you redeem your card, you'll have the choice of 2-5 ounce jars of Spoonfudge or one of our gluten-free mixes.

You can choose 1 flavor for both jars or you can choose 2 different flavors and mix it up. The 2 jars will come in a small reusable plastic bag and are ready for gifting... or for immediate inhaling.

Samples:
I am so pleased to announce that starting with the September orders and continuing until further notice all orders will contain samples from several different B&B etailers. I will be listing these companies on the site shortly so you can get an idea of what to expect in your order. Soap, lip balms, scrubs, candles... more! I've picked a selection of my personal favorite businesses and will be adding more in the future. Enjoy!

Still to come: yellow cake mix, sandwich bread mix, pizza dough mix, and more! We recently added a Spice Cake Mix and an unbelievably delicious Chocolate Cake Mix - be sure to check them out.

It's Coffee Month at Glutenada!
To help with back to school blahs and college studies - August will be Coffee Month at Glutenada. We welcome back our old favorites (Chocolate Cappuccino, Chocolate Keoke Coffee, Chocolate Mocha, and Chocolate Coffee Beans) and are tossing in a few new ones for good measure (Chocolate Amaretto Cappuccino, Chocolate Mocha Irish Cream) as well as a few other standard flavors to round out the 9 that will be available.

We will be opening for business on Friday, August 22 at noon PT and will remain open through Monday, August 25 before closing at 7pm PT. Fudge ordered during this time period will be made on September 2 and will be shipped by September 3.

New Website
In case you missed this important notice - we have moved and have a brand new website! We moved everything under the Glutenada name and charssi name is no more. We still have the Punch Card program but this now encompasses both Spoonfudge jars and our Gluten-Free mixes. While the look is a bit different, everything you're used to is still there. In addition to the new website, we have brand new labels with our new design AND nutritional information. Whee!

Another Major Change
We didn't want to overwhelm you with all the changes at once so we held off on our final change. This will be coming either in the September or October Order Window. No more 10 ounce jars - we will be downsizing to 5 ounce jars.

Now before you start fretting and emailing me with your cries of dismay... you'll be getting TWO 5 ounce jars! Instead of our 10 ounce jar a single "jar" will now consist of 2 - 5 ounce jars in your choice of the flavors available at that time. So you'll still be getting the same amount of Spoonfudge but you'll be able to break up the flavor if you'd like. These jars will come in a small reusable plastic bag that will be nicely folded and will hold them securely in place. Ready for gifting - or just snarfing in one sitting. Now those who do so will feel better about eating a jar in one sitting (you know who you are...). Half as much!

Recipes and Mix Suggestions
Coming soon... we're hard at work on finishing up a recipe section that will give great recipes you can create using our mixes. In addition, we'll be listing easy 1 or 2 sentence suggestions for ways to doctor up a mix to create something new and spectacular. We'd love your input on this - there will be a submission form where you can submit your own recipes and suggestions. Yum!
